Short answer: from S$1,700 for a manual single, built and installed. That figure is the bed on its own, with no storage built around it. Most finished jobs land higher, because most Murphy beds are drawn as one wall together with a wardrobe, a desk or full-height storage.

Here is what actually moves the number, so you can read a quotation properly instead of comparing starting prices.

Most of the price is the carpentry around the bed, not the bed itself.

What Is the Starting Price?

S$1,700 buys a manual single wall bed, fabricated and installed by our own team — the carcass, the mechanism, the frame and the fitting.

It does not include a mattress, and it does not include the carpentry around it. A single on a bare wall in a helper’s room or a box room is the job that lands closest to that figure.

Sizes move it upwards in the order you would expect: super single, then double, then queen. The mechanism, the frame and the amount of board all scale with the mattress.

What Actually Moves the Price?

Three things, in roughly this order of impact.

How much carpentry runs around the bed. This is the big one and the reason quotations vary so much. A bed with a wardrobe beside it and storage above it is three pieces of carpentry drawn as one wall. The bed might be a third of that cost.

Manual or motorised. A gas-spring manual mechanism is the default and is lighter to lift than most people expect. Motorised adds the drive, the wiring and a socket in the right place — worth it for a queen, for a daily-use bed, or where whoever uses it would rather press a button.

Size and finish. Board, laminate or veneer, handles, lighting inside the recess. These are the smallest of the three levers but they are where a quotation quietly inflates.

Ceiling height, beams and bulkheads do not usually change the price, but they can change the design — a low ceiling may push a bed from folding vertically to folding sideways.

Manual or Motorised — What Is the Difference Worth?

A manual bed is lifted by a gas spring. It is the part that does the work and the part that eventually wears, which is why it carries a five-year warranty while the cabinet carries one year.

Motorised replaces that lift with a drive. It costs more up front, needs power at the wall, and gives you a bed that comes down at the press of a button. If the bed is somebody’s nightly bed rather than an occasional guest bed, it is the upgrade most people are glad they took.

Neither changes how the bed sleeps. The frame is rated to 300 kg either way and takes a standard mattress.

Why Do Quotes Vary So Much Between Companies?

Mostly because they are not quoting the same thing.

Some prices you will see quoted in Singapore are for the mechanism only — the frame and the lifting gear, with the cabinet priced separately or left to someone else. Others are for an imported unit in fixed sizes. Ours is custom carpentry built to your wall, which is a different product even though it has the same name.

The other variable is what the carcass is made of. We build in plywood rather than chipboard, which is what lets the frame carry its rating and survive daily folding. A cheaper quotation is often a chipboard carcass, and that difference does not show up until a couple of years in.

When you compare, line up three things: what the carcass is made of, whether the cabinet is included, and what the warranty covers. The names on the products are interchangeable — Murphy bed, wall bed, hidden bed, foldable bed all describe the same thing.

Want a Price for Your Room?

Send us a photo of the wall along with its width and the room’s length, and we will come back with an estimate for your room rather than a starting figure. The sizes, the layouts and what each combination gives back in floor area are all set out on our Murphy bed page.

If you are pricing this as part of a bigger renovation, it is worth knowing that the bed is usually drawn together with the rest of the carpentry and shares its lead time.
